Kylian Mbappé scecured a hat-trick as Real Madrid cruised to a 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabéu, giving José Mourinho a commanding win in his first home LaLiga game since returning to the club.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 40th minute after Federico plValverde created the opportunity, but Real Sociedad responded before half-time through Luka Sucic to send the two sides into the break level at 1-1.
Real Madrid returned from the break with greater intensity and quickly regained control of the contest.
Mbappé restored Madrid’s lead in the 60th minute after combining with Jude Bellingham before firing past the Real Sociedad goalkeeper.
Vinícius Júnior then extended the hosts’ advantage in the 68th minute, finishing off a move that began with Bellingham’s pressure and involvement in the attacking play.
The French forward completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute with an exquisite chipped finish after being played through by Vinícius, sealing an emphatic victory for Mourinho’s men.
The result gives Real Madrid a second consecutive league victory to begin their 2026/27 season's campaign, following their 2-1 win away to Espanyol last Saturday.
For their new manaager, José Mourinho, the victory makes his return to the Santiago Bernabéu even more memorable. The Portuguese manager had been welcomed back to the stadium after more than 13 years away and delivered a convincing performance in front of the home supporters.
The five goals thriller came by Kylian Mbappé giving the opener at the 40th' minute and Luka Sucic equalizing at 44th' minutes before half time. Mbappé gave Madrid the lead after the break at the 60th' minutes whiles Vinícius Júnior doubled the lead at the 68th' minutes. Mbappé then extended the lead by adding the fourth goal at the 80th' minutes, making his first hatrick of the season in the Spanish Laliga as far as the 2026/2027 campaign is concerned.
Mbappé’s three-goal display makes him the standout performer of the night, while Vinícius and Bellingham also played key roles as Real Madrid produced a dominant second-half performance.
The victory also sends an early statement of intent from Mourinho’s new-look Real Madrid side as they look to challenge for the LaLiga title this season.
