Chief of Staff Hon.Dr. Julius Debrah has urged Ghanaians to take greater responsibility for keeping their communities clean and help address the country’s sanitation challenges.
Speaking at the Clean Conference 2026 held at the Cedi Conference Hall, University of Ghana, Legon, Dr. Debrah expressed concern about indiscriminate disposal of waste and called on citizens to change their attitudes towards sanitation.
He said the government’s Resetting Ghana Agenda includes efforts to improve sanitation and noted that the reintroduction of the National Sanitation Day, observed on the first Saturday of every month, forms part of measures to tackle the problem.
Dr. Debrah also called on the media to make sanitation a prime-time issue by giving the subject sustained attention rather than focusing on gossip and less important discussions. He said greater public education and awareness were needed to encourage responsible waste management.
The Chief of Staff further expressed his condolences to families who have lost loved ones, urging Ghanaians to work together towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all.
